By the way, guyz i think my grace period is over, now let get to the real critical appraisals.

Mobolaji, good shot....but...could have made the flute a bit more in focus when you took it. I know I know...too picky.
Mobolaji Kamson: Well I think you are right, the flute in focus would have made a stronge image.(a bit more central) but when your subject is moving around like a yoyo , you may not be lucky to get it all, the point is taken though.

A bit more DOF to get the flute would have been nice, but I love the blurred out background, and the colours are great too. I like the way you composed this! About the background, is the vignetting real, or added in post processing?
Mobolaji Kamson: There was a slight vignette which i accentuated both to achieve a stronger image and to hide any flaws that might have arisen from my cloning. Oh by the way can anyone explain dodge/burn in photoshop

I LIKE! This is new to me. So its good.

keep it up!
Mobolaji Kamson: Reza, thanks for the comment. I am not sure what is new to you though, can you explain !

very nice dude. Bola huh, we are name sakes ......well kinda
Mobolaji Kamson: namsake, thanks for the visit !

Double u - o - Double u. I like the skin detail.
Mobolaji Kamson: Seye, thank you. Just in case you were wondering, DOF = Depth of field. and this is directly affected by the size of the lens aperture and the focal length of the lens. In lay mans terms, a shallow DOF translates to a blurry background while deep DOF translates to the whole image in focus.

For a more in-depth lesson please send me an email.

An excellent study. I don't mind the shallow depth of field. I do like the clever use of vinetting that draws attention inwards, and I really like the composition and colours.
Mobolaji Kamson: Always enjoy your images. Thanks for the comments

Grace period? Was there one? Well I always let people get away with therr 1st post (thats if it's a dud). Your 1st post was okay, will post my comments on that shortly.

Now to this image, lovely shot, the angle and the cropping is just right. love the colour tones,(Side comment: you left handed? always find left handed guys always place images on the right)

DOF is just right, what did you clone out by the way? The only thing that niggles is that the flute is not in focus, oh well we can't always have it all. All in all, this is a very good shot.

Suby
Mobolaji Kamson: Suby, Suby. How far now ?
I am not left handed, but i definitely try not to compose subjects in the center if i can help it.

I cloned out a microphone in the top left hand corner, if i figure out how i will post a link to the original image

Lovely colours and great sharpness. I think you've chosen the perfect aperture setting for this - well blurred background, but sufficient DOF for the subject. How are you finding the 30D? With shots like this, it must really rock!
Mobolaji Kamson: The 30D is great, it feel much better than my previous camera, also i really like the larger screen.. Thanks Maven

Reza from United States 10 May 2006, 21:27
Mast, what I meant by new, I mean I haven't seen an image of a person playing a flute or any instrument this close up.

This is a totally differnt shot than what I normally have seen or have been exposed to.
Mobolaji Kamson: I am glad you like it. Thanks for the clarification

deji77 from Great Britain (UK) 10 May 2006, 21:37
i like the focus on his playing lips. leading to the coloured cheeks. nice shot.
Mobolaji Kamson: Deji thanks a lot !
